The Image Auto Story
The Image Auto story is an American story. In 2003, founder Paul J Daly was working as a service writer for a Chevrolet dealership in Oswego, New York. One day, while speaking with a college friend, seeds were planted that would one day grow into the Image Auto family of businesses.
Paul’s friend had recently started a new business that refinished alloy wheels. Paul was working at a franchised auto dealership and Paul saw an opportunity in his local market for such a service. Taking a huge leap of faith, Paul quit his job, bought an old van, and learned how to refinish alloy wheels. He took that knowledge and built Rim Doctor of New York, which remains a growing division of our company today.
Looking to diversify and to capitalize upon the well earned reputation of Rim Doctor, Paul sought additional services he could provide to his client base of auto dealers and auto dealer groups throughout Central New York. After much market research, Image Auto Frontline Management® was developed, and in the fall of 2005 it launched to our local market. The response from our clients was truly exceptional, and we now offer our Premium Interior Reconditioning and Maintenance Program to auto dealers though out Upstate New York.
In 2008, due to the rapid growth of both Rim Doctor and Frontline Management, the need to be more centrally located to our ever growing, statewide client base became quite clear. Once again, showing a true entrepreneur’s spirit, Paul moved the company from Oswego to a 7,000 sq. ft. facility in Syracuse, New York and our Detail & Reconditioning Center was born. This location serves as the Head Office for our fleet of mobile technicians, a full service shop for Rim Doctor’s highly specialized services and offers our local dealers a complete auto reconditioning solution.
While our focus has always been to provide our industry with cost effective, top quality reconditioning services, the word eventually spread through our community and, in response to strong consumer demand, our Detail and Reconditioning Center was opened to the general public in late 2007.
To assist him in the continued expansion and management of the company, Paul took on a new business partner. Edward Blumenfeld joined the team in February of 2008 bringing with him over 13 years experience in the automotive sector and 23 years experience in sales, marketing and new business development. Eddie had worked with many successful companies throughout his career and comes to Syracuse from Toronto, Canada where he played a critical role in the establishment of Canada’s premier automotive website, www.AutoTrader.ca where he was originally retained by John Francis, CEO of Trader Media Corporation as a consultant. Transitioning to a direct report to Mr. Francis, Eddie quickly helped design, implement, and direct operations for AutoTrader.ca and eventually served the company as the Director of Dealer Services.
In 2011, sensing his work at Image Auto was nearing completion, Eddie began a planned transition out of the company.
In September of 2013, we celebrated our 10 year anniversary at our annual team retreat, motivated and poised to keep the momentum going through the next decade.
Also in 2013, the seed of our creative agency, Congruent, was planted out of a desire to develop internal communication media which would celebrate and solidify our vision, mission and values throughout our team which spanned a 500 mile radius. Pretty soon, other companies began to see the quality of our media output and wanted the same.
In July of 2015 we moved to our new facility and expanded all levels of our operation including a full service wheel refinishing and custom coatings shop taking our service in this area to a new level for body shops, dealerships and the retail public. We also build a creative studio to house our growing creative agency and thus began to expand our reach working with local and national brands.
In 2018 we are finding new ways to pursue our commitment to create opportunity for our team and our customers. By leveraging our creative agency to produce our first content series specifically for auto dealers which helps prepare them to attack the most pressing challenges of the modern automotive retail environment.
